The Senior Performance Test Engineer will together with the Test Manager and Architect have the responsibility to develop the performance test strategy, performance testing methodologies, tools infrastructure, processes and efficient execution of the performance strategy.
We are looking for an engineer with proven ability to design and implement high quality performance test methodologies, you will be part of the R&D team within SDL Tridion Development Lab in Amsterdam.
R&D uses SCRUM to develop products so teams are made up of different disciplines, including product managers, developers, other testers and technical writers. The technical landscape is very diverse and challenging and covers technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, XML, XSL, ASP.Net AJAX, IIS, WebSphere, Apache Tomcat and relational databases.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design and run extensive load, scalability, stability, and stress tests using industry standard benchmarks and tools as well as custom developed software
• Work with Development and Support to reproduce customer performance problems
• Analyze test results and write capacity planning / customer best practice guides
• Automate test scenarios using load-generating tools
• Extend stress test, verification, application simulation tests in Java/J2EE, C#, .NET/IIS/WAS
• Review automation designs and test results from other engineers
• Specify hardware for labs required for testing
• Establish / maintain consistent automation standards and designs as well as performance data representation and sizing guides
• Mentor team members on performance concepts and methodologies
• Pro-actively seek to make continuous improvements to Performance Test coverage, execution and automation

Skills, Experience and Personality

• 5 or more years of benchmark testing, performance analysis, tuning and software development experience with a good track record on technically demanding projects.
• Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in Computer Science. A Master's degree in Computer Science is preferred.
• Outstanding attention to detail and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Java, .NET, VB, SQL and/or Oracle
• Strong ability to analyze / interpret technical data
• Good eye to identify / resolve system bottlenecks
• Expert in identifying potential limitations in software
• Expert troubleshooting and reasoning skills
• Solid understanding of throughput, latency, memory, CPU utilization and resource contention
• Expert with web app server load testing / benchmark software
• Working knowledge of database tuning and administration like Oracle and SQL Server
• Working knowledge of process monitoring tools like PerfMon, CLR Profiler, jmeter
• Working knowledge of Application servers like Tomcat, Weblogic, Jboss, WebSphere
• Proficiency in J2EE Technologies
• In-depth understanding of large complex software systems to isolate defects, reproduce defects, assess risk and understand varied customer deployments
