Content Creation
Your professionals offer many skills and a broad range of expertise that can be used to enhance your Web site. SDL Tridion R5 provides different interfaces to its core product, Content Manager, to ensure that those who need to contribute can do so, easily and effectively.
Description
Content Manager Explorer
Content Manager Explorer is the main user interface to Content Manager. Content Manager Explorer is for all content contributors including corporate communications, marketing, sales, designers and technical staff. Content Manager provides rich functionality for basic to advanced content management tasks within a browser.
SiteEdit
SiteEdit allows Web site contributors to work within the context of a Web site and simplifies frequently performed tasks. By providing contributors with a visitor’s view of online content, you can improve the effectiveness of online communication. SiteEdit provides key contributors with a WYSIWYG, browser-based interface and a collaborative environment for many online communication tasks. SiteEdit is easy to use, ensuring lower training costs and easy adoption.
WebDAV Connector
WebDAV Connector provides access to Tridion R5 content using Windows Explorer. Contributors can add, edit, delete, and use content in the same way that they would use the Windows file system using the most appropriate desk‑top application for the task they need to perform.
Word Connector
Word Connector is for occasional content contributors who need to create simple text for your Web site in the word processing tool that they know best, Microsoft® Word. Authors can open, edit, and create structured XML content using Word and to save this content directly to Content Manager.
Benefits
Centralised content, world-wide access
Many professionals in your organisation contribute to online communication: Web site administrators, marketing professionals, corporate communication, designers, programmers, and more. SDL Tridion provides multiple interfaces and flexibility for worldwide contributors from a centralised, single system.
Content Manager Explorer and SiteEdit are browser-based and optimised for low-bandwidth access to Content Manager. Tridion language packs allow professionals to use these interfaces in their language of choice, including multi-language spell-check functionality for content authors.
Easy access, easy use
The term “content management system” can seem very daunting to employees who only know the tasks they need to perform and familiar way of doing them. Different interfaces for different roles allow personnel to use content and functionality based on the tasks they need to complete using familiar Windows controls.
Adapts to user needs
SDL Tridion interfaces use Content Manager’s security settings, providing secure access to the content and functionality. Basic users may need to create or edit text and advanced users may need to add complex functionality to Web sites. Content Manager Explorer, SiteEdit and WebDAV interfaces adapt to the roles of different contributors, providing control and flexibility.
