Methodology
SDL Tridion professional services support implementation partners and customers by applying a proven methodology. The Implementation Methodology is a phased project rollout that ensures effective and fast CMS implementations. SDL Tridion consultants identify and address key strategic and functional issues and monitor the progress of any SDL Tridion project.
Prepare phase
The Prepare phase establishes the foundation of the project and defines the following information:
- Business objectives
- Project direction
- The project team
- Approach and scope
- Project management controls
- A BluePrint model that reflects the business rules of the organisation
Structure phase
In the Structure phase, the project team refines and documents the functional requirements of the content and site structure. During this phase, editorial processes are mapped to provide an overview of workflow and role requirements.
Design phase
The project team guides the development process and graphical design decisions. Functional requirements are translated into a technical design, which provides instructions for the Build phase.
Build phase
In the Build phase, the project team performs the following tasks:
- Configures the application
- Develops functionality
- Creates required extensions
- Integrates external interfaces
In addition, the project team also tests the initial build and creates publishing instructions.
Deploy phase
The Deploy phase comprises two parts. First, the project team conducts a system test of the application with production data. Key users then perform an acceptance test to validate user requirements.
The test environment evaluates functionality, usability, scalability, reliability, and performance. Activities in this stage include final configuration revisions, user training, and content upload. Second, the Tridion powered site is launched, the project team supports the launch, documents the solution, and delivers a final assessment.
